Carla Rinaldi (1947 – 2025)
[April 18, 2025]
For 15+ years, I dreamed of sharing Reggio Emilia with educators from across the globe and to collaborate with our brilliant Italian colleagues in pursuit of research into the language of computation. None of this would have been possible without the persistent love, trust, and friendship of Carla Rinaldi, the guiding light of the Reggio Emilia approach. Sylvia and I saw Carla on Tuesday, and the next day she passed away. We used the final day of our four-day institute to honor her and today attended the state funeral for one of the most brilliant educators who ever lived, in the city she loved so much. We must preserve and amplify her legacy. Knowing Carla was a spectacular blessing. Our work on behalf of children takes on extra urgency in her absence.
